There are many more questions that you have called and messaged me about via the XUẤT NHẬP KHẨU HCM fanpage. Today, I will share with you the process of importing forklifts, and also help you answer the questions at the beginning of the article.
For the forklift import process, simply follow these four steps:
- Registration and inspection of imported forklifts
- Open import declaration for forklift
- Conduct a physical inspection of the forklift.
- Pay the fees and receive the vehicle inspection results.
The process for importing a forklift isn't too complicated, is it? :)) The customs import procedures are similar for electric forklifts, personnel lifts, and other specialized vehicles.
HS code and import tax for forklifts:
First, you need to accurately look up the HS code for the product line you are importing before preparing the necessary documents and importing the forklift. Based on capacity, characteristics, structure, and intended use, items are divided into different groups, each with its own HS code. Note that each HS code is subject to its own customs clearance policy and tax obligations.
Forklifts are classified into three types: manual forklifts, electric forklifts, and internal combustion engine forklifts. Each type corresponds to a specific HS code as follows:
+ Hand pallet truck (84279000)
+ electric forklift (84271000)
+ Forklift powered by internal combustion engine (84272000).
Depending on the type of forklift, it will be registered and inspected at the corresponding inspection agencies. Specifically, hand forklifts and personnel lifts will be registered at the industrial department of the inspection agency. Electric and internal combustion engine forklifts will be registered for quality control at the Department of Inspection.
Accordingly, when importing forklifts, please note that the import tax on forklifts is 0%. The VAT on forklift imports is 10%.
The formula for calculating import tax based on HS code is as follows:
Import tax = CIF value x % tax rate
- The value-added tax (VAT) on imports is determined according to the following formula:
Value Added Tax = (CIF Value + Import Tax) x 10%.
The CIF value is determined by the ex-factory value of the goods plus all costs incurred to bring the goods to the first port of entry in the importing country.
The above is a brief overview of the import procedures for forklifts and specialized vehicles. For detailed information on the steps, please see here .
