Procedures for importing electric motors

POLICY ON ELECTRIC MOTORS

The procedures for importing electric motors are governed by the following legal documents.

• Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC dated March 25, 2015
• Official document 1786/TCHQ-GSQL dated March 11, 2016
• Circular 36/2016/TT-BCT dated December 28, 2016
• Decision 04/2017/QD-TTg dated March 9, 2017
• Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC dated March 25, 2015; amended and supplemented by Circular 39/2018/TT-BTC dated April 20, 2018.
• Circular 18/2019/QD-TTg dated April 19, 2019
• Circular 1182/QD-BCT dated April 6, 2021
• TCVN 7540-1:2013
• TCVN 7540-2:2013

According to the aforementioned legal documents, electric motors are not on the list of prohibited imports. Used motors are also not on the list of prohibited imports. However, when importing used electric motors, the procedures stipulated in Circular 18/2019/QD-TTg must be followed. When carrying out import procedures for electric motors, the following points should be noted:

• Used electric motors must be less than 10 years old;
• When importing transformers, the goods must be labeled in accordance with Decree 43/2017/ND-CP;
• Identifying the correct HS code is crucial for determining the correct tax and avoiding penalties.
