Diesel engine import policy

The procedures for importing diesel engines are regulated by the following legal documents:
• Decree No. 127/2007/ND-CP dated August 1, 2007;
• Decision 04/2017/QD-TTg dated March 9, 2017;
• Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC dated March 25, 2015; amended and supplemented by 39/2018/TT-BTC dated April 20, 2018;
• Circular 08/2019/TT-BKHCN dated September 25, 2019;
• Decision No. 2711/QD-BKHCN dated December 30, 2022;
• Decree No. 43/2017/ND-CP dated April 14, 2017;
• Decree 128/2020/ND-CP dated October 19, 2020.

According to the above documents, diesel engines are not on the list of prohibited imports. However, when carrying out procedures to import diesel engines, the following points must be noted:

• Only used diesel engines with equipment age under 10 years are allowed to be imported;
• When importing transformers, goods must be labeled according to 43/2017/ND-CP;
• Identify the correct HS code to avoid confusion and avoid fines.
