Oak wood import policy
The procedures for importing oak wood are regulated in the following legal documents.
• Value Added Tax Law No. 13/2008/QH12 dated June 3, 2008
• Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC dated March 25, 2015, amending and supplementing Circular 39/2018/TT-BTC dated April 20, 2018.
• Decree 69/2018/ND-CP dated May 15, 2018
• Decree 128/2020/ND-CP dated October 19, 2020;
• Circular 11/2021/TT-BNNPTNT dated September 20, 2021;
• Circular No. 26/2022/TT-BNNPTNT dated December 30, 2022;
• Circular No. 01/2024/TT-BNNPTNT dated February 2, 2024.
According to the above legal documents, oak wood is not on the list of prohibited imports. However, when importing this item, importers need to be aware of the following points:
• Imported oak wood must undergo plant quarantine.
• Imported oak wood requires a timber inventory list.
• When importing goods, they must be labeled in accordance with Decree 43/2017/ND-CP;
• Identifying the correct HS code is crucial for determining the correct tax and avoiding penalties.
