GOOSE MEAT IMPORT POLICY

The procedures for importing goose meat in particular, and livestock and poultry meat in general, are regulated by the following documents:
• Circular No. 103/2015/TT-BTC dated July 1, 2015
• Circular No. 14/2015/TT-BTC dated January 30, 2015
• Circular 24/2017/TT-BNNPTNT dated November 15, 2017
• Circular No. 25/2016/TT-BNNPTNT dated June 30, 2016
• Circular 38/2015/TT-BTC dated March 25, 2015; amended and supplemented by Circular 39/2018/TT-BTC dated April 20, 2018.
• Decree No. 69/2018/ND-CP dated May 15, 2018
From the above legal documents, we can see that goose meat and edible goose by-products are normal goods and are not on the list of prohibited import and export items. However, when importing goose meat, animal quarantine must be carried out before importation into Vietnam.
Regarding the procedure for importing live geese, there are two types: importing for breeding or importing for breeding purposes. We have a separate post on this topic; please find it on our website.
