Forklifts with engines (diesel forklifts, electric forklifts, gas forklifts...) are in the list of group 2 goods managed by the Ministry of Transport, according to Circular 62/2024/TT-BGTVT (replacing Circular 12/2022/TT-BGTVT). According to regulations, the inspection will be carried out after customs clearance without having to bring the goods back for storage.

Procedures for Importing Motorized Forklifts

Step 1: Register Online

• Access the National Single Window Portal

• Prepare documents including:

  • Invoice

  • Catalogue - Vehicle technical documents

  • CQ (Certificate of Origin)

Step 2: Submit vehicle information and wait for approval

• Enter vehicle information into the system.

• Officer receives and issues Registration number.

Step 3: Open customs declaration and clear goods

• Enterprises carry out customs declaration.

• Complete customs clearance and bring goods to warehouse.

Step 4: Check vehicle condition and schedule inspection

• Check the actual condition of the vehicle.

• Schedule an appointment for the inspector to come down and check.

Step 5: Check the vehicle at the warehouse

• The inspection officer conducts a physical inspection of the forklift.

Step 6: Pay the fee and receive the registration certificate

• Pay registration fees as prescribed.

• Receive inspection certificate if vehicle meets requirements.

Important Note

• Used forklifts are still allowed to be imported , but:

  • Documents must be clear.

  • Prohibit the import of vehicles with erased or modified chassis or engine numbers.
