CMA CGM Invests in Slovenian Port
CMA CGM is strengthening its European presence by forming a joint venture with the Port of Koper, Slovenia, to develop an automotive logistics hub. This move underscores the port's strategic role as a key gateway to Central Europe and as part of the IMEC corridor.

The visit by Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM, to Slovenia's Port of Koper on the Adriatic - accompanied by Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob and French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday - was framed as part of a broader effort to fortify the French-Slovenian strategic partnership and promote the development of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC).
As part of the visit, CMA CGM announced the establishment of a joint venture with the Port of Koper to acquire 27,000 square meters of land for the development of a dedicated logistics hub for the automotive industry.
With a presence in Slovenia spanning more than 20 years, CMA CGM currently operates two direct weekly maritime services: the Phoenician Express, connecting Asia to the Mediterranean, and the Bora Med service, which operates within the Mediterranean basin.
In recent years, the Port of Koper has experienced strong growth in its annual throughput, positioning itself as a critical gateway to Central Europe. Notably, Tailwind, the shipping line operated by the German supermarket chain Lidl, also uses the port as one of its primary hubs.
