The CMA CGM Group has quietly re-entered the Russian market through its intra-Asia specialist brand, CNC Line, offering sailings on the Baltic Express Line (BEL), according to a report by DynaLiners.
This move follows the cancellation of previous plans to extend the Finland Express (FLX) service to St. Petersburg.
Instead, the group is now offering capacity on the BEL service, connecting St. Petersburg with Rotterdam. This connection is established through a slot charter agreement on a single 500 TEU vessel operated by Seabow. While the scale of operations remains modest, this step marks CMA CGM's tangible return to the Russian market after a period of suspension.
Regarding legal and compliance matters, the group emphasized that this service strictly adheres to all current sanctions and will focus primarily on the transportation of foodstuffs.
