CMA CGM Strengthens Mediterranean Transshipment Network with Investment in Nador West Med Mega-Port

The CMA CGM Group, through its port operating subsidiary CMA Terminals, has signed a key partnership agreement with Marsa Maroc to jointly develop and operate the West Terminal at the Nador West Med Port, which is currently under construction on Morocco's Mediterranean coast.
Under the agreement, CMA Terminals will hold a 49% stake in the terminal's concession company, while Marsa Maroc will hold the remaining 51%. The transaction is currently pending approval from the relevant authorities.
Technical Specifications and Scale of the New Terminal
The new terminal has a designed capacity of 1.8 million TEU and is expected to become operational in phases starting from 2027. Its impressive technical specifications include:
• Quay length: 900 meters
• Draft: 18 meters
• Container yard area: 37.5 hectares (total surface area of 60 hectares)
• Equipment: 8 Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes
Strategic Objectives
This partnership aims to develop a modern terminal at Nador West Med that meets the highest international standards for performance and connectivity.
The project will help position the port as a major transshipment hub in the Mediterranean, thereby enhancing Morocco's logistical appeal and strengthening the country's integration into the world's major shipping lanes.
