Container shipping line alliances have a 5% cancellation rate
According to Drewry, 24 train cancellations between weeks 31 and 34 were announced out of a total of 496 scheduled trains, representing a cancellation rate of 5%.
Container shipping line alliances have a 5% cancellation rate
Drewry announced that out of a total of 496 scheduled sailings on the main lines of the Trans-Pacific, Transatlantic, and Asia-North Europe & Mediterranean services, 24 sailings were canceled during the period. The period from week 31 to 34 was announced, accounting for a cancellation rate of 5%.

Over the next four weeks, The Alliance, including Hapag-Lloyd, ONE (Ocean Network Express), Yang Ming and HMM, announced 11.5 canceled sailings, followed by 2M Alliance consisting of Maersk and MSC with 7 sailings were cancelled, and the Ocean Alliance consisting of CMA CGM, COSCO and Evergreen had 5.5 sailings canceled, according to Drewry.
In addition, the peak summer season is now placing additional strain on an already overstretched supply chain.
Drewry notes: “With carriers cutting weekly contract allocations, shippers and BCO’s find themselves having to accept the very high rates and various additional premiums to stand any chance of their cargo being loaded on time".
