Container throughput at major Chinese ports rose 10.8 percent at the end of March
In March, the throughput of China's major coastal hub ports increased by 10.8% year-on-year. Container throughput at eight major ports rose 14.5 percent.

According to the statistics of the China Ports and Harbors Association, the export container volume increased 8.7% while the domestic volume increased 18% at the end of March. In particular, the ports of Ningbo-Zhoushan and Shenzhen achieved growth rates of more than 30%.
The throughput of key coastal ports increased 8.6% year-on-year while international commercial cargo volume rose 3.8%.
Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports increased slightly by 4.3% year on year. Yantai Port achieved a growth rate of over 60% and Tianjin Port achieved a growth rate of over 30%. Inventory at the port increased 23.1% over the same period last year.
Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports fell 8.6% while port inventories rose 6.4%.
Cargo and container throughput at the three major ports in the Yangtze River including Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing increased 58.1% and 47.6%, respectively. with the same period last year.
