Hamburg Sud restructured globally according to a new strategy of Maersk
Hamburg Süd is making changes in its organizational structure as parent company AP Moller - Maersk moves to foster integration of other independent brands and businesses into its logistics and shipping portfolio.
The restructuring of Hamburg Süd comes as soon as Maersk announces the complete merger of the Safmarine and Damco, and both brands will cease operations by the end of 2020.
In the Hamburg Süd areas of operations, the organizational structure and geographic area will restructure more in line with the parent company's brand strategy - Maersk - and a multi-brand Regional Ocean Management team will be established.
Additionally, Hamburg Süd has established the Expansion Management Group at its headquarters in Hamburg to ensure a comprehensive approach and a sustainable brand with a differentiated service model. The expanded management team consists of CEOs and CFOs along with the global heads of marketing, key account management, customer experience, IT, and HR.
Dr. Arnt Vespermann, Managing Director of Hamburg Süd said: “Hamburg Süd is known in the industry for its unmatched customer proximity, for its long-term and direct customer relationships, for being reachable in person, and for providing advice at the local level".
“We want to further enhance these advantages for our customers in order to differentiate ourselves even more. Our customers expect a very personal and local customer experience, and this is what they’ll get even more of in future”, he added.
Vincent Clerc, Maersk's Head of Shipping & Logistics, commented: “Hamburg Süd is a strong brand with its own value propositions complementing those of Maersk. By bringing the product teams closer together we want to secure stronger alignment across the teams and stronger brand positioning based on insights into our customers’ needs, enabling us to serve all customers with an optimal product and service offering".
From a regional perspective, Hamburg Süd's local management in more than 100 countries globally has been significantly empowered to ensure quick response times and a high degree of flexibility to meet individual needs. of cutomer.
The carrier said the multi-brand Regional Ocean Management team will take advantage of these additional market advantages and that the establishment of Hamburg Süd's regional organization will be integrated with Maersk.
The new structure will facilitate alignment between all brands in Maersk for the benefit of customers, the carrier added.
