Interasia Lines Expands Intra-Asia Fleet with Order for Up to Eight 2,900 TEU Containerships
Carrier Interasia Lines has signed a deal with Jiangsu YangZiJiang shipyard for up to eight 2,900 TEU newbuilds, scheduled for delivery in 2028, to enhance efficiency and strengthen its position in the Intra-Asia market.

Asian regional container carrier, Interasia Lines, has officially returned to the shipbuilding market by signing a significant contract with Jiangsu YangZiJiang Shipbuilding Group (YZJ) for up to eight newbuild container vessels with a capacity of 2,900 TEU each.
The order consists of six firm vessels and two optional ones, marking the first collaboration between Interasia and the YZJ shipyard. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Interasia stated that these newbuilds are designed to improve operational efficiency and sustainability, aligning with the maritime industry's collective efforts to reduce its environmental impact. This is also part of the carrier's broader strategy to expand its fleet and reinforce its presence in the Intra-Asia trade.
The vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2028, where they will bolster Interasia's current fleet of more than 20 container ships.
