Maersk sees its Q2 container volume better than expected
Maersk said its better-than-expected container volumes helped it upgrade its outlook for the second quarter; with output expected to fall only 15-18% (compared to the 2019 period) compared to the company's initial assessment of the decline of up to 20-25%.

Most regions will see a decline in container shipping volume in 2020 compared to the previous year, with consumption-supported areas from developed countries going down the most, said Nilesh Tiwary - at Drewry Maritime Financial Research - told JOC. Container volume this year will fall by 8% compared to 2020, and then increase back to 13% by 2021, he said.
