Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) is strengthening its multimodal services to advance integration goals.
PIL Multimodal Services has now expanded its presence to Indonesia, Myanmar and Pakistan. The logistics division provides truck, rail and barge solutions to complement the carrier's port-to-port transportation network.
The dominant Asian carrier has a multimodal footprint in all other major markets in the region, including India.
“By enhancing our point-to-point connectivity, customers can save more time and resources when delivering their cargoes through our one-stop end-to-end transportation solution,” the carrier said in a statement.

“With more options to deliver their cargoes efficiently and flexibly, customers are also empowered to reduce the carbon footprint of their overall supply chains,” the carrier went on to add.
According to the statement, PIL has also enhanced its multimodal service offerings in Africa, China, Guatemala, India, Mexico, New Zealand, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam by adding new destinations in these areas.
Rumors surrounding an integrated model of operations in the container shipping industry are said to have originated from a plan launched by Maersk in 2017 to transform itself from a niche carrier into a full-service logistics provider. package.
Other major container shipping lines have been quick to join the integration trend to keep up with growing trade dynamics.
In pursuit of such goals, Maersk has opened a series of new domestic freight/warehouse terminals in India over the past year.

Additionally, CEVA Logistics, a subsidiary of CMA CGM, has signed a strategic agreement to acquire Mumbai-based Stellar Value Chain Solutions, a full-service logistics company.
