Port of Melbourne fell 18.4% container volumes in February
Total container volumes at the Port of Melbourne totaled 219,606 TEUs in February, down 18.4% year-on-year.

According to port data, overall imports from abroad fell 28.9% in February year-on-year, with manufacturers of common consumer goods, furniture, metals, appliances household appliances, textiles and paperboard, all below last year's levels.
In addition, overall overseas exports declined by 4.4% in February compared to the same period in 2022, with fodder & fodder, pulp & waste paper and dried milk all below last year.
On the other hand, the Port of Melbourne's total number of empty shipping containers is 21.1% lower than in February 2022.
