Russia market update: FESCO launches new service, COSCO and ZIM suspend service to Russia
FESCO - A Russian shipping company - has launched a new service connecting Russia's Far East with China and Vietnam, when COSCO and ZIM stopped this service.

Far Eastern Shipping Company (FESCO) of Russia has opened a new service connecting Russia's Far East with China and Vietnam, after the Israeli shipping line ZIM pulled out of this service.
FESCO's new service is called "FESCO Vietnam Direct Line", which is served by two vessels, one owned, 1,060 TEU FESCO Trader and one 1,078 TEU A Houou, chartered from Starocean Marine.
The service connects the port of Vladivostok with Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and Ningbo.
The designated FESCO Trader vessel is commissioned into service upon completion of deployment on FESCO's Korea-Russia Express 1 service.
FESCO Vietnam Direct Line is the only shipping service connecting Vietnam, China and Russia after ZIM stopped Russia Star service in March when the Russia-Ukraine war broke out. Several liner operators have suspended services to Russia due to sanctions and reputational concerns.
Alphaliner's report disclosed that COSCO Shipping Lines has been closely following many other shipping lines in restricting shipments to Russia. The Chinese shipping company will stop RFS service, operate its North Europe - Russia route, with the route of Zeebrugge, Hamburg, St Petersburg and Zeebrugge, using two 1,924 TEU vessels leased from Delphis. The last sailings to call at St Petersburg are scheduled for 31 May to 3 June with the Delphis Gdansk, after which the ship will be switched to the new service with the North Germany-Finland service.
