Schedule reliability below 40% in 2021, Maersk stays on top
According to analysts of Sea-Intelligence, the reliability of the container shipping schedule is in the range of 33% - 40% for the whole year of 2021.

The Danish research & analysis company in the field of global supply chains - Sea-Intelligence - conducted a report showing that the reliability of the ship schedule in November fell 0.6 percentage points to the level of 33.6% from the previous month.
These figures reflect sailing schedule reliability of between 33% and 40% throughout the year 2021. According to Sea-Intelligence analysts, they used the data on 34 different shipping routes and more than 60 shipping lines to make this report.

Sea-Intelligence CEO Alan Murphy noted: "The only continuing 'positive', if one should call it that, is that schedule reliability has not plummeted further."
In particular, the reliability of the train schedule in November decreased by 16.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, "average delay time for trains arriving late dropped to 6.93 days, though still the highest figure this month, which has been the subject of 2021", the analysts said. Denmark explains.
Maersk was again the most reliable shipping line in November with a schedule reliability of 46.3%, followed by its subsidiary - Hamburg Süd shipping line - with 40.4%, as seen below .

Only the MSC shipping line had schedule reliability of 30% -40%. The other five shipping lines include Hapag-Lloyd, ZIM, CMA CGM, COSCO and ONE (Ocean Network Express) with schedule reliability of 20%-30%.
The remaining six shipping lines have schedule reliability below 20%, of which Evergreen recorded the lowest schedule reliability in November 2021, only 11.8%, according to Sea-Intelligence.
“Four carriers recorded a month-on-month improvement in schedule reliability, while no carrier recorded a year-on-year improvement in schedule reliability, with all but Maersk recording double-digit year-on-year declines,” said Murphy.
All shipping lines, except Maersk, recorded a double-digit decrease compared to the same period last year.
