Sea-Intelligence: Global Schedule Reliability Drops Sharply in October 2025
The latest report from Sea-Intelligence shows that global vessel schedule reliability fell by 3.5 percentage points in October 2025. However, Maersk and the Gemini Cooperation continue to maintain their leading positions in operational performance..webp)
Maritime analysis firm Sea-Intelligence has just published issue 171 of its Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, updating schedule reliability figures through the end of October 2025. This comprehensive report covers 34 different trade lanes and more than 60 shipping lines.
Market Declines After a Period of Stability
In October 2025, industry-wide schedule reliability recorded a significant decline of -3.5 percentage points month-on-month (M/M), dropping to 61.4%. This marks the second major drop in 2025, ending a three-month streak of stability for this index.
However, when viewed on a year-on-year (Y/Y) basis, schedule reliability still recorded a positive improvement of 11.1 percentage points.
Regarding delays, the average delay for LATE vessel arrivals increased slightly by 0.04 days M/M to 4.98 days. Despite this uptick, the figure for October 2025 remains -0.87 days lower than the same period in 2024, indicating long-term improvement.

Performance of Top Carriers
Among the top 13 largest carriers globally, Maersk continues to affirm its position as the most reliable carrier in October 2025 with a score of 74.1%.
It was followed by Hapag-Lloyd with 69.6% and MSC with 65.9%. Of the remaining 10 carriers, 9 fell within the 50-60% performance range. PIL was the least reliable carrier in October 2025, achieving only 44.9%.
Alliance Performance Update

Sea-Intelligence continues to apply a dual measurement methodology for the new alliances: "All arrivals" (counting all port calls, including origin ports on East/West trades) and "Trade arrivals" (counting only port calls in the destination region – similar to the traditional methodology).
For the September/October 2025 period, the results were as follows:
• Gemini Cooperation: Continues to lead with impressive performance, achieving 88.6% on the "All arrivals" index and 86.0% on the "Trade arrivals" index.
• MSC: Ranked second with 77.5% ("All arrivals") and 80.5% ("Trade arrivals").
• Premier Alliance: Recorded 64.6% ("All arrivals") and 54.6% ("Trade arrivals").
• Ocean Alliance: Under the traditional calculation method (where "Trade arrivals" is equivalent to "All arrivals" for the old alliance structure), this alliance achieved 65.0%.
