Shipping lines Wan Hai, Sealand and Interasia jointly launched the new CTV service
Container shipping lines including Wan Hai, Sealand and Interasia co-launched the new CTV service beginning on May 15. The 21-day rotation will start from Ningbo - Shanghai - Laem Chabang - Bangkok - Laem Chabang - Ho Chi Minh - Ningbo.
Taiwan's intra-Asia container carrier - Wan Hai Lines - will launch its China-Thailand-Vietnam (CTV) service in partnership with two other carriers, Maersk Sealand and Interasia Lines.
The CTV service, which began on May 15, is part of Wan Hai's strategy to consolidate its market share in the intra-Asian competitive segment.
Wan Hai said, "At the moment, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the volume of goods on the China-Southeast Asia route is relatively mild, so we are taking action soon to ensure our position. ".
Wan Hai, Sealand and Interasia (a regional carrier in Japan), each carrier will assign a 1,200TEU vessel for this CTV service.
The 21-day rotation will start from Ningbo and call Shanghai - Laem Chabang - Bangkok - Laem Chabang - Ho Chi Minh and back to Ningbo.
In the context of US-China trade tensions, manufacturers have shifted some output from China to Southeast Asian countries, especially Vietnam. As a result, Wan Hai Shipping expects revenue to increase by adding more services to the region.
Wan Hai currently operates 45 intra-Asia routes and intra-Asia cargo accounts for 74% of the total cargo volume of the carrier. It is estimated that Wan Hai has a 15% market share in total intra-Asia shipping volume.
In 2019, Wan Hai's net profit increased by 220% to TWD 3.57 billion (US $ 118.94 million), thanks in part to rising volumes of goods to and from Vietnam.
Wan Hai said, "Looking forward, the Covid-19 pandemic is inhibiting the global economy. Movement restrictions and lockdowns in many countries will inevitably adversely affect the demand for logistics and shipping. We will monitor infection prevention measures and the lifting of blockades in various countries and respond accordingly"
For Interasia, this is another important milestone for them in Thailand and Vietnam, as the new service line comes soon after the recent launch of CV6 service connecting South Central. Quoc with both of these markets. Therefore, with this next strategic move, Interasia can now provide comprehensive coverage services for Thailand and Vietnam, and with the service corridor in Central and South China.
