Strengthening its Southeast Asia Presence, COSCO Finalizes Stake Acquisition in Thailand's Largest Port
COSCO SHIPPING Ports has completed the acquisition of stakes in the two largest container terminals at Port Laem Chabang, Thailand, to strengthen its investment portfolio and expand its network in the Southeast Asia region.

COSCO SHIPPING Ports, the port operating subsidiary of the COSCO Group, has just finalized the acquisition of stakes in two terminals at Port Laem Chabang, Thailand, marking a significant step in the company's strategy for the region.
The company has acquired a 12.5% and a 30% equity stake in Thai Laemchabang Terminal (TLT) and Hutchison Laemchabang Terminal Limited (HLT), respectively. This transaction strengthens COSCO SHIPPING Ports' investment portfolio in Southeast Asia and contributes to the continuous improvement of its global network.
Port Laem Chabang, located southeast of Bangkok, is Thailand's largest deep-sea port and serves as the country's most important international container hub, handling approximately 80% of Thailand's total port throughput. TLT and HLT are currently the largest terminals in Laem Chabang.
Once construction is completed and they are fully operational, berths A2 (under TLT) and A3, C1-C2, and D1-D3 (under HLT) will have a combined annual capacity of approximately 6.7 million TEU.
In a statement, COSCO SHIPPING Ports said: “This acquisition will enable the company to deepen business cooperation with global shipping companies and partners in Thailand and Southeast Asia, expand logistics offerings including terminal extension services, and provide customers with enhanced port logistics services.”
