Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT) welcomes the first vessel of ZSL/PELICAN service by ZIM and MSC

Ba Ria - Vung Tau, February 8, 2025 - This morning, at Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), a ceremony was held to welcome the first vessel of ZSL/PELICAN service operated by ZIM and MSC. This is an important event, marking a new development in the cooperation relationship between TCIT and the world's leading shipping lines.

The ceremony was attended by leaders of functional agencies, including Vung Tau Maritime Port Authority, Cai Mep Customs Branch, Cai Mep Port Border Guard Station, and representatives of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and its member units. In particular, the event was honored to welcome Mr. Fernando De La Rosa - General Director of ZIM (Vietnam), Mr. Bui Van Quy - Deputy General Director of SNP, captain and crew of NINGBO ship, and press agencies of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Colonel Bui Van Quy - Deputy General Director of SNP highly appreciated the valuable cooperation between ZIM and MSC when choosing TCIT - a port unit of SNP to deploy the service. He believes that with the good cooperative relationship and mutual development between TCSG Corporation and shipping lines, all parties will certainly achieve more success and move towards a brilliant 2025 of breakthroughs and transformation.

On behalf of TCIT's leadership, General Director Kim Jong Eup emphasized: "We are honored that TCIT is trusted to be chosen as the destination for the new service of ZIM and MSC in the Cai Mep - Thi Vai area. This cooperation affirms TCIT's professional service and exploitation capacity, while demonstrating the determination to fulfill the common commitments of providing superior solutions, focusing on customers, sustainable development and environmental protection of the parties".

Mr. Fernando De La Rosa, General Director of ZIM Vietnam shared: "Today is an important milestone in ZIM's journey in Vietnam, demonstrating the spirit of agility and commitment to the market - core values in ZIM's DNA. We are very pleased to welcome this service at TCIT, providing a direct connection from the South Vietnam to the US Gulf market. We believe that this service will create positive impacts on trade between Vietnam and the US, bring many practical benefits to customers and continuously improve the efficiency of our operations and our partners.”

The ZSL/PELICAN service connects Vietnamese goods with ports in the US Gulf region with the detailed port rotation including: TCIT - Xiamen - Yantian - Pusan - Lazaro Cardenas - Panama Canal - Houston - Mobile - Tampa - Miami - Suez Canal - TCIT. The NINGBO ship of ZIM has a deadweight of 108,574 tons, a length of 334 meters and a capacity of up to 8,440 TEUs, belonging to a fleet of 12 mother ships jointly deployed by MSC and ZIM with an average capacity of 8,000 - 12,000 TEUs.
