THE Alliance: Plan to blank sailings and merge services in August
The group of container shipping lines - THE Alliance - announced plans to blank sailings and maintain a suspension of service in August as the carriers continue to face reduced demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
THE alliance, which includes container shipping lines: Hapag-Lloyd, HMM, Ocean Network Express (ONE) and Yang Ming, said FE4 service for the route of Asia-North Europe will remain suspended.
On the Asia - Mediterranean route, four sailings will be blanked in August. In addition, seven sailings to the West Coast on the transpacific route will be blanked. Shipping services to the east coast on the trans-Pacific route via the Suez Canal and Panama, including EC3 and EC1, will remain consolidated except for week 33.
On the Asia-Middle East route, there will be a blanked sailing in August, and AG1 and AG3 services will remain consolidated. On the transatlantic route, two sailings will be blanked.
THE Alliance will continue to closely monitor market conditions and respond effectively by reorganizing their service network to meet market needs, ONE said.
