Top 50 Global Logistics Companies in 2019
The revenue of the world's 50 largest global logistics service providers, the decline has been significant in 2019 compared to the previous year.
Reflecting the gradual decline of the global economy reflected by the revenue of the world's 50 largest global logistics service providers, the decline has been significant in 2019 compared to the previous year. This is a bad signal because the reduced commercial demand due to the impact of the 2019 Corona virus disease (COVID-19), however, some third-party Logistics providers (3PL) can take advantage of disruption to carry out handling of more volumes of goods from their own customers.
Total third-party logistics revenue (3PL) increased by 2.1% to $ 346 billion in 2019, according to the latest annual study conducted for JOC.com by Pittsburgh-based SJ Consulting Group, in contrast. Totally with a growth rate of up to 14% in 2018. Excluding revenue from third-party logistics operations of e-commerce company Amazon - topping the ranking for the second consecutive year - total sales revenue of the top 50 actually decreased by 1.2% to 293 billion USD.
As in previous years, JOC.com's list of the top 50 global logistics providers in 2019 calculates revenue from a range of logistics services, combining freight forwarding, air and ocean, truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) brokerage, intermodal, warehousing, and dedicated trucking.
Mark D’Amico, senior analyst at SJ Consulting, said that "economic conditions are starting to weaken in 2019", which has led to a slowing of US trade growth. Growth in U.S. imports and exports in 2019 dropped to 0.2% from 5% and 4.3% respectively in 2018, D’Amico said.
Trade growth is also affected by the Trump administration intensifying trade conflicts with China, Europe and other major US trading partners. The escalation is often unpredictable on US import tariffs and tariffs imposed by trading partners as well as additional threats - which have a negative impact on trade growth in general. , D'Amico said.
