Yang Ming Declares General Average After Fire on YM Mobility at Ningbo Port
Yang Ming declares general average after fire on board YM Mobility, appoints adjustment unit and announces discharge and transshipment.
On August 9, 2024, a fire broke out near the bow of YM Mobility at Ningbo Port. Yang Ming then declared general average on August 18, 2024 to protect the common interests of the ship, cargo owners and all parties involved.
The port authority and local fire service at Ningbo Port responded promptly, took immediate action and provided professional guidance. As of the date of this announcement, the situation has been completely brought under control. The exact cause of the incident is currently under investigation by third-party experts.
Yang Ming has declared General Average for this incident and has appointed Richards Hogg Lindley as Adjuster to manage the relevant matters under the York Antwerp Rules.
To ensure the safety of the vessel and the surrounding environment, Yang Ming has arranged for the discharge and transhipment of the cargo on board, with the approval of the port authority. The delivery and release schedule will be determined based on notification from the Adjuster.
