MSC Adjusts Port Rotation on Asia–US West Coast Service

MSC has announced changes to the port rotation on its Pearl and Sentosa services, which connect Asia with the US West Coast.

The changes mainly involve rearranging the ports of call on the two services. Pearl will add Hai Phong and Oakland while removing Xiamen from its rotation. Conversely, Sentosa will add Xiamen and remove Hai Phong and Oakland from its schedule.

The changes will take effect from specific voyages on each service.

Pearl Service: Hai Phong and Oakland Added

Starting from Voyage 636, MSC will add Hai Phong, Vietnam, and Oakland, US to the port rotation of the Pearl service, while removing Xiamen from the schedule.

The new port rotation for Pearl is: Hai Phong – Yantian – Long Beach – Oakland

Following the adjustment, Pearl will have two direct calls on the US West Coast: Long Beach and Oakland. The addition of Oakland expands the service's coverage in the region and provides an additional port option for cargo originating in Asia.

For exporters in northern Vietnam, the direct call at Hai Phong also allows the Pearl service to handle cargo through one of the region's key gateway ports.

Sentosa Service: Xiamen Added, Hai Phong and Oakland Removed

MSC is also adjusting its Sentosa service, starting from Voyage 634.

Under the new rotation, Xiamen will be added, while Hai Phong and Oakland will be removed from the schedule.

The new port rotation for Sentosa is: Singapore – Port Klang – Laem Chabang – Vung Tau – Yantian – Xiamen – Long Beach

Following the change, Long Beach will be the only US West Coast port in the Sentosa rotation.

The redistribution of port calls between Pearl and Sentosa indicates that MSC is adjusting the respective service coverage of the two routes along the Asia–US West Coast trade lane.
